Advocacy
This blog was written to advocate the following causes:
1. Pray for the Jesuits
The Jesuits were once the Catholic Church’s formidable missionary forces. As long as they remain obedient in letter and in truth to the Pope, their numbers increase. But the Jesuits are now becoming fewer and fewer, and some of them are openly defying the Church’s teaching authority, such as on the issue of ordination of women, gay marriage, contraception and abortion, equality of religions, and liberation theology.
2. Ateneo de Manila University should not be Catholic in Name Only (CINO)
The Ateneo de Manila University is in danger of becoming a Catholic-in-name-only university like many Jesuit universities in the US. The formula for the restoration of Ateneo’s Catholic identity is St. Ignatius’s 18 rules for thinking, feeling, and judging with the Church, as written in his Spiritual Exercises.
3. No to the Reproductive Health Bill
This blog was born in response to the statement of support of a group of professors of the Ateneo de Manila University to the Reproductive Health Bill being debated on the Congress. This bill seeks to promote artificial contraception and sex education at elementary schools. This bill is contrary to the teachings of Pope Paul VI’s Humanae Vitae, which says that contraception is intrinsically wrong.
4. Promote the Traditional Latin Mass
The Tridentine Mass is a beautiful mass. This mass is universal for it engages all the senses: the scent of incense, the chanting of priest, the sight of candles, the feel of the beads, the taste of the host–and that sense of being one with all the saints and angels in heaven. There are still few traditional latin masses here in the Philippines, even after the publication of Summorum Pontificum. This may be partly due to the resistance of priests and bishops to the Old Mass. Let us pray that of the six masses in a parish in each Sunday, at least one of them may be the Old Mass.
5. Convert the members of Iglesia ni Cristo. Many members of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) are former Catholics. What I wish to do in this blog is to expose the deceptions and false teachings of INC and proclaim the truth of the Catholic Faith. This apostolate is under the patronage of St. Athanasius, St. Augustine of Hippo, and St. Robert Bellarmine. These three saints defended the church by writing about the truth of the Catholic Faith and the errors of the Arians (who deny the divinity of Christ like the INC), Donatists, and Protestants, respectively.
