About

Monk’s Hobbit:

We look westward to the West that was.
We look eastward to the Catholic Church that is.
    We look downward in sadness.
    We look upward in hope.

This is not a news blog but a new blog about an old thing that remains ever new: the Catholic Faith.  Unless it embraces anew the Catholic Faith, the Western Civilization as we know it now shall either destroy itself or be destroyed by its enemies: the United States will become Disunited; Europe, Eurabia.  And we in the Philippines who are the heirs of this Judaeo-Graeco-Roman Civilization—our Catholic Faith brought by Spain and the Democracy brought by the United States of America—shall either perish in the Orient Seas or blaze as beacons of Faith in this New Dark Ages, as Ireland once was to Europe a thousand years ago.

I envision this blog to be a repository of documents and formal essays, some of them excerpts from old articles that may be useful for understanding the present and for planning the future.  I do not aim for a following.  My aim is to cast into the deep and fish out men via Google.  Thus, you will notice that my titles are long and my tags are specific, for Google gives more weight in its Page ranking in the permalinks and citations (WordPress will cite me through tags).  So seek and you shall find.

But what’s in a name?  I am neither a monk nor a hobbit, but I live like a monk and think like a hobbit.  I studied under the Dominican Sisters in elementary, the La Salle Brothers in high school, and the Jesuit Fathers in college and in graduate school.  I am a theoretical physicist by profession, with interests in literature, history, philosophy, and theology.  I used to paint pictures before, but since I have no more time, I just try to paint with words.  I play the flute and guitar—usually Gregorian chant pieces or old Filipino songs.  To rest from physics I write this blog.  Read and enjoy.

Here are my other blogs:
